Golos Angary Radio.

Local voices, music and city news: the story of an independent Bratsk station that began broadcasting on 7 November 1995.

Finding a local voice on FM

Golos Angary, or “Voice of the Angara”, began broadcasting on 7 November 1995. Founder Yuri Osintsev recalled visiting Irkutsk’s Volna Baikala to learn how a station produced its own programming. Bratsk needed its own presenters, music schedule and local news.

The river gave the station a name recognisable across a city spread between distant neighbourhoods. Local radio accompanied journeys, working hours and life at home. Familiar streets, events and people made the service relevant to its audience.

The station belongs to the commercial media environment that developed in the 1990s. Its history is separate from earlier wired broadcasting and from the municipal Ogni Angary service.

Presenters and programmes

In the twentieth-anniversary interview, general director Yuri Osintsev and programme director Anastasia Mukatova described a station whose staff worked beyond the microphone: preparing games, meeting listeners and creating city projects.

The 2015 photographs show everyday broadcasting: Olga Nazimova’s morning shift, Pyotr Volkov and Alyona Baranova on Radio Day, regular programmes and visiting guests. The Khoroshou morning show combined conversation, humour and audience participation. Even collected on-air slips became a way to share the studio’s personality.

These programme names and job titles describe the 2015 publication, preserving a particular moment in the station’s history.

Beyond the studio

The Shag Navstrechu charity marathon collected practical goods for children’s institutions and families in difficulty. Mukatova described donations ranging from food and hygiene products to furniture and appliances; the station also supported the Gavrosh shelter.

Muzykalny Olimp offered local performers a route onto the radio through auditions, voting and studio interviews. The station promoted theatre, cinema, university and sporting events.

Telephone calls, online conversations and meetings carried the relationship beyond broadcasting. These connections explain how a listening audience could also become a community.

Thirty years and new voices

The station marked thirty years on 7 November 2025. The Bratsk administration’s anniversary video identifies its frequency as 105.5 FM, providing a dated reference that can be distinguished from older directories.

In BST’s Radio Day report on 7 May 2026, Rafael Nechayev, Viktoria Bogdanova and Arina Gudkova represented Golos Angary and spoke about live broadcasting. The report placed the station alongside other local radio teams, reflecting the variety of the city’s broadcasting.
