1946–1986

Connecting a city through transport.

Distances were built into Bratsk’s layout. Railways, the airport, dam crossings and trolleybuses answered different needs.

01

Supplying construction

Angarstroy and railway development prepared the industrial region. Delivering people, equipment and food preceded broad urban streets. Transport history therefore begins before the first trolleybus and extends beyond journeys within residential microdistricts.

02

Two banks and longer journeys

Regular passenger flights began in 1957. In 1965 the dam became a railway and road crossing, serving industry and ordinary journeys alike. The named Angara express connected Bratsk and Irkutsk in 1986, another stage in the city’s long-distance links.

03

A route to work

Trolleybuses began running from the market to the timber complex on 1 February 1975. New routes and a third traction substation followed in 1976. The operator’s history distinguishes the initial fleet from later expansion; figures from different years should not be attached to one opening date.
