Part of the city / Central District

Central District.

An industrial city separated by forest: the central residential area and neighbouring communities.

The place and its history

In everyday speech, “the Centre” usually means the central residential area. The wider Central part also includes Porozhsky, Sosnovy, Stenikha and Chekanovsky. Numbered microdistricts inside the Centre form another level of urban geography.

Central urban district was established in 1980. Its main residential site developed with the aluminium smelter, timber complex and reservoir resettlement. Novaya Stenikha is shown separately as an additional local name.
